Answers for recording, digital tapes, Apple Watch, Photos Sync, and HomeMovieCam Pro.
Why does HomeMovieCam need camera and microphone permission?
Camera access powers the live viewfinder and video recording. Microphone access adds sound. You can review either permission in iOS Settings. HomeMovieCam cannot record the related media when a permission is disabled.
Where are my recordings stored?
Every completed scene is saved into HomeMovieCam’s private, app-owned tape library on your device. If Photos Sync is enabled, HomeMovieCam also adds a separate finished copy to Photos.
What does “processing previous scene” mean?
The camera becomes available again after raw recording finishes while HomeMovieCam applies the selected camcorder treatment and saves the previous scene in the background. If processing is interrupted, the app keeps a pending job and tries to resume it on a later launch.
How does Photos Sync work?
Turn Photos Sync on or off under Output & Overlays in HomeMovieCam Settings. When enabled and permitted, finished scenes are copied to Photos after the durable tape copy exists. Turning it off leaves your in-app tape library intact.
How do I use the Apple Watch remote?
Open HomeMovieCam on the paired iPhone and leave it on the ready camera screen. Open the HomeMovieCam Watch app, then use the single round control to start or stop recording. The Watch displays an open-iPhone message when the phone app is not reachable.
What is included for free?
Free mode includes VHS with the Family Handycam, camera capture, digital tapes, playback, and scene or whole-tape sharing. Free recordings stop at five minutes and exported videos include the HomeMovieCam watermark.
What does HomeMovieCam Pro unlock?
Pro adds Hi8, MiniDV, MiniDVD, Flip Cam, Super 8, and Found Footage; Budget, Professional DV, and Horror camera models; no recording-length cap; and no export watermark. It is a one-time purchase, not a subscription.
How do I restore HomeMovieCam Pro?
Open the gear in HomeMovieCam, then choose Restore in the HomeMovieCam Pro card or Restore Purchases in the Pro screen. Use the same Apple Account that made the purchase.
How do I play or share a whole tape?
Open the tape shelf, select a tape, and use Play Tape or Share Tape. Scene order controls whole-tape playback and export. Use Update Label, cover-frame selection, and scene reordering to shape the finished tape.
What happens when I delete a scene or tape?
Deletion removes the corresponding app-owned media from the local tape library. A separate copy already saved to Photos is not deleted; manage that copy in the Photos app.
Does HomeMovieCam upload my videos?
No. HomeMovieCam does not operate a media server or account system. Your tape library lives in the app on your device. Apple-managed device backups depend on your own Apple settings.
